Ive looked on here to find a solution but nothing seems to be applicable to my problem.
Ive had Orange adsl for about 3-4 mnth now...got it mainly for gaming on the ps3.
Everything was fine until 4 week ago, then i started to have problems with lag.
I used to get 3-4 green bars on the lagometer...now im luck to get 2 yellow..and mostly just one red.
All the guys i play with...i'm part of a mature gaming clan...so we have 10-20 guys in private lobbies most nights...well they all have green bars...me, i fluctuate from red or yellow.
It was brilliant for the first 3 month..now all i am getting are problems and its impossible to play online now..which is a real bummer cos i am presently off work sick...so its been a good help to me.
So, why has my connection dropped when i have changed nothing?
Are Orange throttling my connection?
Hope you can help.
nope absolutely i suspect Orange (my provider) are throttling back our connection speeds.
Ive had my account with Orange and i keep regular logs on here of the connection speeds. Its ALWAYS maintained around 5Mb download with upload around 370kb. UNTIL recently. The first time i noticed was only a few weeks ago.. Cod was unplayable so i came off it and tried a speed test.
My speed tests now yo-yo up and down dropping during peak times (7pm)to less than 1Mb download.
CoD is unplayable like this and im very annoyed.
Its been the same on both Cod4 and Cod5.
At first i thought Orange maybe were making temp changes but its been happening for weeks now.
I only joined Orange BB Since May-June this year...for the first 3 month it was ok but in the middle of August the problems started with the inconsistency on the speeds.
I'm on the Torquay exchange..

Hi,
I’ve been having the same problem for about 4 weeks now after being with Orange for over 2 years. CoD4 ping rate was over 120 and BF2 was over 300. I have resolved the issue by connecting up my old Netgear router and using that instead. Straight away after connecting it my CoD4 ping dropped to 50-60 and BF2 dropped to around 30-40.
It would seem that Orange have downloaded some new firmware/software to our Live boxes which somehow limits bandwidth to certain ports and certain times. If it was not for the free calls aboard I would have canceled my broadband and mobile phone contract. I can’t believe the way that I’ve been treated by Orange throughout this issue.
something has definately happened. I also have been having problems..it is not the speed as if anything it has increased but viewing my results from the past (speedtest.net) my ping has gone from about 60 to average of 140. This happened sometime between end of Nov and 1st week in dec and stayed that way since. something has been done as have tested quite often and now ping is always >120ms. Anyone know what and how we get them to put it back???
Glad to find other people suffering, i've been playing cod fine since it came out over a year ago, always 3-4bars green connection and hosting a lot. Last month has been rubbish and seems to get worse last week, connection changes from 2 yellow to red bar, has made the game unplayable. Called Orange and was given the do speed tests fob by someone who could barely speak english. At first i thought possibly they were changing somthing, but a few weeks on it doesn't seem like it's going to be fixed. Can't wait to get out of my contract and to another isp.
Hi there Pedds1, I work for Orange and might be able to help.

If your having the same sort of problem as I was having with lag on cod4 on PS3, then I maybe able to help.
My problem was that my connection slowly dropped through the day and eventually cod4 ended up unplayable in the evening. To solve this I had to use port forwarding and put my PS3 in the DMZ of my router.
(Make sure your PS3 is NAT 2 by going to your playstation network settings.)
You will need to forward the following ports to your PS3's IP address:
To find this the portofrwarding and DMZ page you need to
1. Open your internet browser
2. Type "192.168.1.1" into the address bar.
3. Click access to configuration pages.
4. Enter username as "admin" and the same for the password.
5. From the Menu at the side of the page, click on "configuration, advanced, router."
