Hi. I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas on this.
I lose my Orange 2mb connection pretty much once a day, often mid-afternoon, but it could happen any time. I wouldn't mind so much if I could reconnect straight away, but repeated attempts are rebuffed with the message "User name and password authentication failed" - when in fact they are perfectly correct. Eventually (about 10 minutes later) my details are accepted & I can carry on as normal.
I am using a Dynamode wired router with Windows XP. I don't seem to get the reconnection problems when I go back tot my old Speedtouch modem, but it still disconnects from time to time.
I have tried speaking to Orange support in India a couple of times, but they are useless and infuriating.
I don't know if it is relevant, but I am using PPPoE. I have tried PPPoA (which I believe is recommended) but that leaves 99% of websites unreachable.
