Ok, I'm not sure whether this is a fault with the Orange livebox or not.... But it's beginning to look like it could be... Hopefully someone here will have a solution.
I'm suffering intermittent connection problems, in so far as I haven't got one even though the Orange livebox says it's connected to the net and it has a broadband connection. My PC is saying it just has a local area connection.
both lights on the livebox are solid and the middle one does flick on and off occasionally but there's no connection between the PC and the livebox. I used to be with Pipex and never ever had connection problems like this with them, but since i've been with Orange I've suffered this on and off for the last 18 months to 2 years. i've tried calling the Indian call centre but I now refuse to call them as they're about as much help as a chocolate fireguard.
My PC set up is as follows, Windows Vista Ultimate x64, IE7, AVG Anti-Virus Pro, Windows Firewall, wired connection to the Livebox.
Everything was okay last night, i was working on a web site for a client and was uploading pages etc with no problem. I left the PC switched on overnight and came down in the morning to be greeted with no connecion. The lights on the livebox showed a connection, and the icon in the task bar showed a connection but when i tried to load a page in IE7 I got the old "page not found" error message. I then noticed that Windows had installed an update at 2 in the morning so i immediatley thought that might be the culprit so i conducted a system restore back to before the update was installed, but to no avail. I then re-booted the PC and after the re-boot the icon in the task bar then only showed a local connection, the livebox still showed a broadband connection.
I re-booted the Livebox by disconnecting the power cable for 10 seconds and then re-connecting. After the re-boot it showed a broadband connection but i still couldn't get IE7 to see the router.
Everything tells me this is a PC/IE7 settings issue but my brain is telling me it's a Livebox problem. When I first signed up to Orange I wanted to use my beloved Netgear modem/router but could never get it to connect to the Orange broadband service. I'm sure it's them.... but i'm pretty certain someone on this forum will tell me otherwise.

Orange seams to have suffered some outages last night, a symptom of this being pages would not load in your Internet Browser. Service seams to have been restored. Are you still havving problems?
