I have had this problem for sometime now. Last night I sent two e-mails and no problem. This afternoon it has taken me over an hour to get one to go. When I have the problem, which is more often than not, The servers address and password is frequently requested and when it is supplied it tries to send again and after a while a further request of the same information is made again with the same result. I might then try closing and re-loading Thunderbird again and sometimes find that when I try to send the e-mail again. to my relief and pleasure, off it goes like magic without any requests being made whatever.
I have no problem receiving emails. I use Avast AV with TB using the 127.0.0.1 loop and Zone Alarm. Setting and unsetting Avast to check for any virus when sending e-mail has made no difference to the outcome.
Is this a server problem? An answer to this immensely frustrating puzzle would be gratefully received!
