I now cannot access this site using my Orange Broadband service. At first I thought the server was down, but I can access without difficulty using various other internet services, from friends who are not on Orange to public WiFi services. I've also been able to connect using a java telnet client at mudconnect.com; the MOO server is definitely up. No other internet activity (Email, Web-browsing, Streaming Video etc.) is affected.
I've tried with an online traceroute (@network-tools.com) and the site is valid/works, so long as I'm not trying to connect directly from my laptop using the Orange Broadband Connection.
The modem is a Livebox DV4210, but I don't think there are any settings here that will affect things. I've tried on a MAC (my main computer) and a PC running XP.
Until sometime around the end of November, I could connect without problems via Orange, the issue has come up in the last month or so.
I'm looking for any assistance with this, even if some users could just try to connect to the above telnet location and confirm whether or not they see the welcome screen (connecting via Orange, obviously).
That will at least confirm whether there is an Orange issue or whether it's something else - though I'm at a loss as to what else needs considering.
In your previous post you mentioned it was resolving the DNS correctly (69.17.114.80) so this isn't an issue and connecting by IP address instead does not make a difference.
I can't access the website unless I go through a proxy. Possibly it is a routing problem or Orange are blocking it for some reason.
Running a telnet client directly from a browser is a new one on me. Its possible some old browsers may have allowed it but nothing I have will work.
However I can get a welcome screen running a telnet client in what I consider the standard way from the command prompt with
telnet lambda.moo.mud.org 8888
Is this what you're after ? If so, the command prompt is the way to go....

Correction, the above link does work directly in Opera (at least the linux version) but it just passes it to the standard telnet client so it winds up exactly the same as running it directly from the command line. Its possible an old version of whatever browser you use did work but a later version dropped support for it. (Telnet is a dinosaur and very few still use it).
Pluggy it won't allow me to telnet in using a telnet client or open the corresponding webpage in a browser. I can however load the web page through a proxy.
What IP address is it resolving it to for you pluggy?

Same as you posted earlier.
I am on Orange LLU and using the standard Livebox wired.

It would seem its a routing issue on some of Oranges network. I'm a fairly recent to Orange and using the 91.104.0.0/13 subnet. Other blocks may route differently. Looks like its helpdesk time if you care sufficiently......
