well i finally went and done what i should have done months ago.. get a MAC code and get off this god awful isp. after about 7 months of losing connections for weeks at a time "pppserver down" as most people have had on here, phoning the joke of a "help desk" many many times, i actually got through to some bloke in the uk once and even then got fobbed off with a load of crap. well it lost the connection at the beginning of december and apparently they upgraded me to the LLU i have read so much about on here, and guess what.... well no need to guess really, i now get 430kbps down and 45 up if i'm lucky, a massive drop to what i was getting, not much of an upgrade really,so i thought enough is enough, they've had their chances so i'm thinking of either Sky or Be, can anybody else recomend these.
Orange cocked up my LLU connection last summer so I left in September......guess what ?......absolutely zero problems ever since....also consistently syncing at 8187/1321 (connecting at around 7000/1000) on the o2 (now Sky) Standard ADSL2+ package at £12.23 per month (no o2 (now Sky) mobile phone).
Can't understand why Orange still keep thinking they can compete in the UK BB market.
P.S. Forgot the most important plus....free English call centre although I've never needed to use it ....I guess that's why o2 (now Sky) don't need to charge

I can recommend Bethere have been with them nearly 2 years with no problems at all, but as already said if you have an o2 (now Sky) mobile (o2 (now Sky) - Be same network) then that woulld be a bit cheaper, Be do a have a few extras like static IP and up to 24meg and ou can control your own line profile.
i have family members with Sky and they are happy with them too.
Good luck with your choice

I am also now free of Orange's tyranny! Just cancelled after a ten minute call with some pikey who was trying her hardest to make me stay, throwing lots of technical jargon at me which she did not really understand and after I corrected her a few times she gave in but she wasn't easy to break! Funny though, how she was the first person in the 3 years that I've been with Orange that was from the UK.
I am en route to a 20Mb fibre optic line from Virgin! I just hope I won't be looking up virginproblems.co.uk anytime soon.
Make sure you don't use too much of their 20mb connection, their fair use policy makes Orange look good. They send out nasty letters and throttle you above 40Gb a month.
well i got my MAC code on monday, i sighed up with Sky in the end as they had a really good deal as i have the tv package, and since then Orange have phoned me every day, twice on tuesday to ask if the fault has been resolved and each time.... sorry but no it hasn't been fixed, they are completely usless, so roll on jan 13th when i get Sky..... can't wait
