I have been with Orange mobile for about six years now and have always been treated well so decided to order the Broadband Max on the 30/06/06.
Still today I have recieved no Livebox, and am at least a week away from an estimated connection.
The story goes - after two weeks, I hadn't recieved the Livebox so I called Orange BB Customer support. They advised me my Livebox is in the post and I should wait a few days. After a few days I called again and they told me it had been lost by Parcelforce and the agent ordered me another one.
After a few more days I called again and they told me the order had failed on the line and is being reprovisioned. No Liveboxes had ever been sent out.
After given an estimation date of 5 days later, I still recieved nothing in the post so I called again and was told the order had not been processed properly so there will be a delay. I call up the same day to check, and recieved a completly different story - that BT were having a problem with LLU at the exchange (Didsbury, Manchester) and that I would have to wait a few more days.
So today after being told it would be active on the 31/07/06, I called today (02/08/06) and have been told that the order has been failing ever since day one and that there is a problem with the Ornage service and the LLU at my exchange. They told me they are trying a technique called 'IP STRAIN' rather than LLU, and I should know whether this is going to work in 5 working days. If this works, I will recieve my modem 3-4 working days after this. This will be approaching 6 weeks for a bb connnection.
Please can someone give me some adivce on whether I should hold out for this IP Strain technique? I desperate for a bb connection (I work from home) and am considering going with someone else. However, if this is a problem with my line then I don't want the same problems with another company...
They're talking about IP Stream. Simply providing the broadband connection over the BT ADSL system rather than their own equipment, though Orange only run that upto 2meg (It's not ADSL Max, "yet").
The livebox probably hasn't been sent out to you yet, the system does it automatically once the line order is accepted. You or the agent you've been talking to have probably been going through to the SPT department. They should be able to give you more specific dates of when the line will be ready and once accepted you should get the livebox pretty quickly.

Looking forward to hearing from you.. .
Sadly, I wouldn't bother taking this any further, I've been with Freeserve/Wannadoo/Orange for over 5 years (3+ on broadband), Orange were in charge for barely a month, and my connection is dead - Since 17th July. I've been given every excuse under the sun (not too dissimilar to you've been getting), the various 'help' desks are a bunch of useless lying so and so's.
As a mobile supplier, Orange may have their plus points, as a broadband supplier they suck from on high.
Their 'Free' broadband may be the only offer worth considering.... as nothing is about all it's worth.
Cancel, get out ...save your sanity (and phone bill)

The agent over the phone has told me I would still get up to an 8MB service - is this not true then?
Spiney - thanks for your advice, I think you've pushed me towards cancellling it, depending on the above question...
Currently the upto 8 meg is only available on Orange LLU lines, if due to problems they're putting you on IP Stream then it's 2 meg maximum for now. Though that'll change October - Novemberish.
