Hi hope someone can give me some advice! We’ve been with Orange home broadband 8meg service for about 4 months initially the speed was fine coming in around 2 meg. However over the last 6 weeks the speed has significantly decreased.
Ive been reading other post and ive done a few tests, however i dont really know what the results means!
My Speed Test
Download speed 467 Kbps
Upload speed 380 Kbps

Avg pause 71 ms
Bandwidth 488 Kbps
Max route speed 7182 Kbps
Forced idle 0 %
Route concurrency 1
BT Speedtester
Dsl Connection rate 640 kps (down stream), 448 (up stream)
IP profile for your line is 500kbps
Actual IP throughput during test was 451 kps
Live Box system information
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Interleave
Noise margin (dB) : 9.6
Attenuation (dB) : 57.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 736
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Can anyway see why theres been such a decrease in speed! Ive contact Orange they said theyd ring me back and they never did when i tried ringing them they hung up!
Any help would be appreciated.
About 2 weeks ago, my 8MB broadband service ground to a halt at the weekends and in the evenings.
Although the speed was good when I tested it on various websites, the "real" speed is diabolical. Loading up even the simplest websites - including www.orange.co.uk - can take up to 10 minutes to load during "peak" times.
I guess there must be a difference between what a speed testing website does to how data is transferred when you load up a website.
I've tried everything I can think of - including resetting the Livebox.
I have also tried phoning Orange "customer services". I use inverted commas as I have never experienced customer service as appalling as that run by Orange. The other posts summarise the situation pretty well.
Sorry I can't be of more help. I guess I'm just hoping the more people complain the quicker the situation will be sorted for everyone.
Not that that will make any difference for me... I've deciced to ditch Orange and go with another ISP as soon as possible.
your connection is not set to adsl2 or adsl2+, but the older adsl. This is usually done to combat interference on the line.
your connection is also set to interleave rather than fast. this is usually done to produce stability on the line from drop outs, but as an adverse effect on ping times.
your attenuation is also high, I would not expect ground breaking speeds from it but your speeds could be higher.
your IP profile is set to only 1/2 meg for your line,
