I have bought a Packard Bell palmtop that has no way of inserting the Livebox CD. How do I connect it to the Livebox wirelessly using the palmtops internal wireless hardware if I cannot put the CD in (it works fine when hardwired)?
Your help would be greatly appreciated. My lad has given up on me in exasperation. I am the yuri geller of the computer world so everything I touch goes wrong. I feel all alone. A complete computer illiterate.
Sorry I am such a bozo.
Put the livebox into pairing mode using the pairing button on the livebox. This will give you 10 minutes in which to establish a connection from your laptop.
Search for wireless networks using your laptop and try to connect to that network. When prompted for a security or pass key use the security key that is printed on the label on the bottom of the livebox.
It should remember the connection and connect automatically in the future.
Thanks ThomasA - there are two buttons on my livebox which is an Inventel DV4210 WIJ. They are labelled "1" and "2".
I pressed "2" and then used the "connect to the Internet" option in the box that comes up when you switch on (it's VISTA). When you get to the box that says "select a network to connect to" it gives two BT homehub connections. It also lists Livebox B338 Home but says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network" so I do not get to the prompt for a security key (which is on the bottom of my livebox)
I then went back to the beginning and pressed "1" but I got the same message. Can you suggest a way forward?
Probably the easiest thing is to delete the network & thus settings and connect again with the new settings.
From the Start Menu on your laptop open Control Panel, Open Network and Sharing Center. Click Manage Wireless Networks. Delete the Livebox network.
Put the livebox into pairing mode using button 1 on the livebox. As before try to connect to the wireless network and enter the security key when prompted. It should then save these settings, OK any prompts to do so.
