Hi. Im new to this forum, but I have had Orange accounts for years.
I have had lots and lots of major problems with Orange. I have sent them many letters. I have sent Ofcom letters as well.
I think most people feel as I do, which is that these governing bodies, like Ofcom, {And Ofgem] do not regulate industry effectively at all.
My own experience is that Orange are often in breach of the 1967 misrepresentation act.
For instance:
They told me that they had changed me onto the LLU recently. Which I found out was a lie. The latest letter they sent me stated I would now be recieving 2.5 meg. {4 years ago, they told me i would have 8meg within a year}
Ive always recorded my broadband speeds.
Average has always been about 600kbps.
{Ive had lots of other probelms with them, as well, that I have documented. As im sure most people on this forum have}
And yet they just keep lying. Keep getting away with it. Even in the face of tens of thousands of complaints, they can, and continue to do whatever they like. But thats not the reason for this post.
Ofcom do not, in my opinion, do enough.
I find Ofcom to be pretty much completely impotent, and not really effective at all, in bringing about any change for the better. In fact, I would go so far as to say,
they are even more useless than the ISP's. I think its a weak argument to say that their role is limited, when the regulatory system is set up that way on purpose. If their role is limited then they do not perform a satisfactory service as the Industry regulator.
