So here's the problem. I have been using a Belkin wireless router for years with Orange without the slightest problem. Went to bed last Thursday with everything working fine - woke uo Friday unable to display any web pages!
Can send and receive Email through Windows Mail, Kids can play X-Box on Internet but no PC's in the house will display Web pages.
I have tried everything I can think of and am pretty sure I have all the settings correct - it was working perfectly.
Problem co-incided with receiviewing an Email, on Friday, from Orange saying"We've finished making the changes we emailed you about and you're now getting up to 4.5 Meg broadband".
I have rung Orange Tech support - USELESS and no help whatsoever! As far as they are concerned the problem is mine to resolve.
So I 'wave a white flag' and give up - phone an IT expert who came round tonight to see what he can do - at £50 per hour!!
Anyway he connects an old speedtouch router that he knows works and Bingo everything works perfectly first time.
We decide my Belkin router is knackered so he sells me a nice new D-Link router he has in the car. We connect it up and - NOTHING - exactly the same problem as with my Belkin. Re-connect the Speedtouch everything works again.
We have checked and double checked all the settings but can only get the web to work with Speedtouch - something is not right here.
Blekin Tech say there is no problem with my router.
I do not want to buy a new Speedtouch router when I don't need to - any ideas anyone??
Another user reported a change in the DNS server settings was causing them problems accessing the internet after they received a similar e-mail about an upgrade from Orange.
If you can access the internet via IP adresses instead of domain names then the DNS server settings will be the problem.
Failing that you could if not already done so, try a factory reset of your belkin router to clear previous settings and set it up from scratch.
