Hi all. Long time reader, first time poster. I hope someone here can maybe offer some advice. Firstly, I have been with freeserve/wannadoo/orange for years and up until recently havent had many problems. I have had a feeling that my 8mb connection is being capped after 6pm but that isnt the problem. The problem is as follows:
A couple of weeks ago, BT accidently changed my home phone number. Obviously this meant broadband didnt work. I knew not to phone Orange as my old number would be reactivated. This took 2 weeks. My old number is now back and ,of course, broadband is still not working. Still getting the slow flashing '@' light and the message ppp server down. After reading here, I guess it has something to do with a broadband marker that has to be replaced on my line.
I phoned Orange support (which I dread doing) and was told to phone back in 48hrs when they would request for broadband on that line. This will take a minimum of 7-10 days.
What I want to know is, am I likely to have problems with this situation? Will Orange renew my contract when they put broadband back? I only have 5 months left to run and will be gone when that day comes. I have been reading several PPP server down topics and they filled me with dread. Will this problem really be rectified? Thanks in advance.
Sorry, I meant to say. Since there is now no Orange marker on my line, will that make it easier to ditch them if I wanted to pay off my outstanding contract and go with another ISP?
