A) Its really slow and takes about 5 minutes to load each page
B) and more importantly, after giving the username and password, which it accepts as correct, it takes me to the configuration page, which is completely blank. No options, just internet explorer layout with a greyed out blank webpage. Any clues?

Sounds like you are logging into the livebox configuration page with the default login name and password of admin and admin.
The greyed out screen is where you should enter your Orange username and password.
The username is the second part of your Orange email address with the addition of typing @fs on the end.
For example if your email address is firstname@surname.orangehome.co.uk then your login name would be surname.orangehome.co.uk@fs
The password would be the one you chose when you registered for the broadband account.

Im sorry, I left it on in the background and after about half an hour the normal screen appeared. Why is it being so slow? The internet is running normally
