i recently moved house. process went fine and i was soon surfing at 6mbps a few days ago the livebox kept on disconnecting, (@ light flashing fast then slow) a reset of the livebox and re-validation of my username and password would solve this for maybe half an hour.
I rang tech support every time it happened and changed cables, filters etc with no luck. Today it has stayed on for the past 5 hours so hopefully my disconnecting errors are over.
i am now connected at around 480kbps with a 58kpbs download speed (speedtest.net)
here is the config from the router:
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 6.6
Attenuation (dB) : 46.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 576
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 512 64
I assume this means i am capped at 512kpbs??
can anyone help with this to try and get this faster?
have now been constantly disconnected then reconnected for the past 2 weeks, stats stayed at 512 down 56 up until this morning when it popped over to ADSL2 now i have 1021 down and 285 up.
By reading some of the other posts here i assume this speed will change as the training period goes on??
is that right?
Please don't make me ring them again, i dont think i can mentally take another have you checked the filters?
LOOK ON MY EFFING ACCOUNT!!! You can see i have at least 10 times now..
do i just need to bear with this, oh and i have 34 for both noise and attenuation. is this normalish?? i tried telling the 1st line guy to put this on my account for when (5th promise) second/3rd line will ring me to update me.
SN Margin
(AKA Signal to Noise Margin or Signal to Noise Ratio)
This is the relative strength of the DSL signal to noise ratio - the higher the number the better for this measurement. 6dB is generally the lowest dB manufacturers specify in order for the modem to be able to sync. In some instances interleaving can help raise the noise margin to an acceptable level. Generally speaking, as overall bandwidth increases, your signal to noise ratio decreases.
■6dB or below is bad and will experience no sync or intermittent sync problems
■7dB-10dB is fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions
■11dB-20dB is good with little or no sync problems (but see note below)
■20dB-28dB is excellent
■29dB or above is outstanding
Note: there may be short term bursts of noise on your line that may drop the margin, but due to the sampling time of the management utility in your modem/router, will not show up in the figures.
Line Attenuation
This is a measure of how much the signal has degraded between the DSLAM and your modem/router, and is largely a function of the distance from the exchange (bigger distances mean higher attenuation). Maximum signal loss recommendation is usually about 60dB. The lower the dB the better for this measurement.
■20dB and below is outstanding
■20dB-30dB is excellent
■30dB-40dB is very good
■40dB-50dB is good
■50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
■60dB or above is bad and will experience connectivity issues

Looks like they've upped the Target SNR to reduce your connection speed.....like they've done to quite a few others.
Edit : and with 1021/285 connection you are definitely on a fixed ADSL2+ line. With SNR at 34.1 you should get close to the Attainable 6245, that's proof that Orange have you on a fixed connection.
Do I need to ring them again? please say no! I was told that my speed would increase over the next few days as I am now on a training period with the line.
is this bs?
my experience has been awful so far:
hi i have a fault please check filters and cablesetc i've done that loads of times oh, well there must be a fault on your line, i will run a line test, please call back in 1/2/5 days
repeat
