On 7th September, I finally persuaded my dad to change our internet provider to Be*, but today we received an online statement from Orange telling us that they are due to take out payment for Orange next month.
My dad phoned up Orange and explained this, yet the man said that we still had to pay!
Why should we still have to pay for a service that we are no longer with or use?
Contract conditions are that on the date of migration to your new ISP, a 30 day contract termination notice period commences. This means if you migrated on 07/09/08, your contract terminates on 07/10/08.
I know this seems unfair and it is, because with other supply contracts you give, say 30 days notice, continue using and paying for the service then switch to your new supplier.
I have questioned OFCOM as to the legality of this under the Unfair Contract Terms legislation but had no response......yet.
