While I'm waiting for my BB connection to be restored, I thought I'd ask this livebox question.
Prior to having a livebox, I had my desktop connecting to the internet and sharing the connection with my laptop via a peer-to-peer wireless connection. It worked really well, and more importantly, allowed me to share files and the printer which is USB connected to the desktop PC.
Now that my laptop is using the wireless connection to connect to the livebox, I have to manually change wireless connections if I want to print or share files. This is a pain, as I had the laptop automatically backing up to an external hard drive connected to the desktop.
So, does anyone know if I can:
a) Have the desktop connect to the internet via a wired connection to the livebox, and use the wireless network to share internet connection, files and printer on peer-to-peer as I did before?
or b) Perhaps somehow connect the printer to the livebox and share it that way (I noticed it has a USB port on it).
Or maybe it's possible to establish two way networking via the livebox.
Don't know if it helps, but I've always used a Belkin Wireless modem and after upgrading from Wanadoo 512 to Orange 2meg I'm still using the Belkin Wireless modem and totally ignoring the "Livebox" have you tried using your original equipement?
Well, I could just use the old Speedtouch modem, but that would defeat the object of having the livebox as I plan to use the free phone calls which it offers.
you can use the livebox to share file between pcs wired or wireless
it is not however a print server, my setup I have my printer connected to my main PC
I can print from my wireless laptop provided the main PC is switched on using the built in Windows XP networking wizards
