Hi,
I have just connected my daughters PC via the Orange's Livebox. Mozilla Firefox is working fine, but I am unable to get the e-mails working using Thunderbird (which I am already using on my main computer). I have set up a separate e-mail using the name@yourname.freeserve.co.uk format.
Eventually I gave up and connected using Outlook Express - which worked(ish) for 10 minutes. Now if I send an e-mail from my main PC or from work using the new e-mail it is delivered into my main computers in box. If I send one from hers it goes nowhere. If I open up her Outlook Express all of our e-mails flood in !!
I would really like to set her up with Thunderbird and have her able to get her own e-mails on her PC and not our main one. Can anyone help please?
Thanks Dbleman
To keep the emails separate if they are on the same domain, you need to ensure the login credentials for each are different rather than just the display e-mail. ie
You set in in outlook express or thunderbrid, whichever you are using. Its the part where you enter your username + password.
In Oulook express in the settings for the account it will be under Servers, Incoming Mail server, E-mail Username & Password. The username should be firstname@lastname.freeserve.co.uk, rather than just last lastname.freeserve.co.uk.
Whilst there you should check that your daughter's outgoing mail server is the same as the settings on your computer.
