well since last tuesday(5 days ago) my download speeds have been maxing out at 128kbps from there usual 1500/2000kbps upload speeds have remained the same as usual at around 350kbps
there was alot of staic on the line when it first started but this cleared up after a day or so and is now clear but its still slow
im on the fastest broadband package(was with them since the freeserve days) abd my connection rate is currently showing 3104kbps with the 128kbps dowlnload rate
today i found a very friendly man in india to tell them the problem and he is sending me a new modem(i connect using a wire and a copperjet 800 modem) to solve the problem... which is nice of him
even tho i told him i have a second pc in another room with a seperate modem connected straight to the wall where the phone signal comes in which is connecting at the same speeds
now i have a 30gb download limit but theres no way i have exceeded my limit as i download very little i just surf most of the time
so anybody got any ideas anything else i can try???? cos phoning them up again isnt going to help tbh
or is this new modem going to be the solution of all my problems???
cheers
To be honest I doubt whether the new modem will help but I guess it's worth a try. In the meantime it's worth swapping the modems to see if that makes a difference to your actual download speed - if it does then one of them could be at fault. Not much help I guess but it's worth a try especially if the problem has only occurred recently.
the anticipation of the new modem arriving is killing me... cant wait to get back to my normal speeds.......NOT
strange but this coincides with my year contract running out from when i upgraded my speed
i could dump them and move on but would it be better with someone else???? especially if it is a line problem
we shall see in time i guess
Although if there's a lot of static on the line it may be better to log a fault with BT. That's what we had to do, although I had logged a call with o2 (now Sky) as the static started happening since we were migrated away from Orange. However this seemed to be purely coincidental. About 5 days later, the line actually died, and BT came out the next day and it was all sorted. The o2 (now Sky) connection had gone down in this time, but a call to o2 (now Sky) and 2 mins later my port had been reactivated - none of this bull about resetting the router etc
