Trying to connect my PS3 to my Orange Livebox using manual settings...I've entered in the correct: IP address / Subnet Mask / Default router / and manage to obtain an IP connection in the test connection mode of the PS3, but the same error reads...
"An error occurred during communication with the server. This is a DNS error (80710102)"
I've read that Orange's DNS settings are dodgy to use, so its recommended that DNS is changed in the router settings to match an open source DNS such as those found at http://www.opendns.com/...
Unfortunately, apparently, Livebox DNS settings cannot be changed, so is there any other solution to this error? Or does anyone know if Livebox DNS can indeed be changed?
P.S. I've already tried the pairing mode with the Livebox by pressing the '1' located on the back.
Help is much appreciated cause 3 days have been spent on this now!
This error code is is displayed when there is a connection time out when the PLAYSTATION 3 system attempts to connect to your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) Domain Name Server (DNS). In order to resolve this issue please check the following:
• Do you have a working internet connection (can you connect successfully to the internet using a PC)?
• Have you reconfigured your network settings (deleted existing settings and created a new set?)
• Does your ISP prohibit access to secure pages as a default setting?
• Within [Network Settings], is the Primary DNS being detected?
If the Primary DNS is displayed as 0.0.0.0 or is blank, the DNS is not being detected automatically. If this is the case please contact your ISP and ask for their DNS address. Once you have this, you should then manually input the address into your network settings.
If you are still unable to connect to the PlayStation Network after attempting the above solution, please contact us
The Livebox domain name server (DNS) addresses you should use are:
195.92.195.94 and 195.92.195.95
Or, if you experience problems with the above, use:
193.36.79.101 and 193.36.79.100

NewApollo thanks for researching that. I've been using the default DNS for the Livebox already, but shall try the two you suggest tomorrow. Thinks it may be a process of elimination really. Cheers for the help.

Change it in Network Connections > rightclick on yours (LAN or wireless) > Properties > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties > Use following DNS server addresses > OK
