This goes back to start of the year, got a new laptop for parents, fine. Didnt connect it to internet at the time coz they had the home phone with BT, and I had my own Livebox in my room for the desktop PC.
Few weeks later they decided to ditch BT due to costly bills and fees added on, to move to the whole Orange package, £24 for the whole thing, broadband and free calls.
Their Livebox comes throught the post (the 2nd in the house). At same time I upgrade to the identical laptop to replace the desktop PC.
I hope you're following me so far!
Needless to say I connect MY new laptop to MY Livebox, fine. Bear in mind the laptops are NOT Macs, they are HP.
Try theirs.....no joy.
Phone up Orange, ....... sadly through to India, fair enough I accept that.
India says "Can't have 2 Livebox's in same household, there is conflict"
Ok, we turn off the parents livebox, try connecting theirs to mine as well.
Now at this point I'll let you know I worked in telesales at the time, SELLING Orange broadband so I was well aware of the up to 6 things connected at any one time jargon.
Doesnt work, mine works......theirs doesnt.
Phone Orange, get British based member of staff, I tell him what India told me. He says must've been lost in translation, you CAN use 2 Livebox's.
Ok, accepted, being Brit as well, no language barrier.
Do all he says on the phone, connecting parents laptop with the wire to the parents livebox........nothing.
Says it mut be fault in the line or something.
Let it go a few weeks, basically doing my head in, and I'm thinking at leats they have the internet through my laptop and livebox.
Phone Orange back, they've checked the line, nothing wrong. They can see by the records we've had a few issues and calls. They talk me through re-setting the parents Livebox, and claim that in a few days should be all fine. Low and behold, surprise surprise, NOTHING.
Guys this has been going on for at least 6 MONTHS! Parents are now getting very frustrated!
I'm looking to phone Orange tomorrow and lay it on the line to them, either get an actual engineer to come out and physically check our equipment, and setups, or we will cancel the contract......we are fed up of doing what they say on the phone, and nothing working.
1) Using your laptop and an ethernet cable connected to the 2nd livebox
a) Does your laptop have internet access?
b) Can it access 192.168.1.1?

I am tempted to ask whether your laptop can connect wireless to the 2nd livebox, but do not want to risk you losing connection to your livebox. I'll also assume you can access 192.168.1.1 from your laptop to your livebox.
I would expect some of the above to fail but not all as it would indicate the problem is not isolated to the 2nd livebox alone.
