Hi there, apologies if I'm going over old ground, I've had a search and not found this specific problem though.
I've had 2mb Orange broadband for about a year with no problems at all, then on Wednesday night I tried to connect as usual and got the 'Error 691' dodgy username/password message. Last night still had the same problem so bit the bullet and called Orange tech support. It was actually a pretty painless experience. The guy had me delete my login details from IE internet options, then set up a new account using the same details via the internet connection wizard. As I clicked finish on the wizard a 'connect to internet' dialog appeared, I pressed enter and connected to the internet. Job done, I thought.
Then I closed the connection and after a bit tried to get back online - 'Error 691' again. So I repeated the process of removing then re-setting up the account. Same again. I can connect immediately when I finish putting my details into the connection wizard, but every time I now disconnect from the internet I have to repeat that process to connect again. Anyone got any idea what's going on?
Thanks very much
Tim
Thanks very much, can connect ok now, although I know longer get a 'connect to internet' dialoog box open when I click on Internet Explorer, I have to go to 'connect to Orange broadband' via the 'Start' menu, then open Explorer once broadband has connected. I can live with that though. Thanks again
