Hi, recently ive been getting huge amounts of packetloss which dramatically effects online gaming. It only happends from around 5pm - 9pm which im guessing is when people get home from work/school and start downloading? But surely this shouldnt be happening ;/
Ive tried ringing Orange and all they say is that there technicians are resolving which i find hard to believe.
Unsure where you are James but in Suffolk I have had exactly the same trouble. I have been with Orange for a year and apart from the LIVEBOX resetting itself at least once a night COD4 has been playable with pings of about 30 - 40 on UK servers. For about a week now, my ping has been 200+ and gaming impossible from 5-10.30pm
The annoying thing is, according to speedtests I am still getting 4+ mb download and 370+ kbs upload so I have a service albeit useless to me. I have a mate with exacly the same problem in East Midlands also on Orange!
Hi,
I’ve been having the same problem for about 4 weeks now after being with Orange for over 2 years. CoD4 ping rate was over 120 and BF2 was over 300. I have resolved the issue by connecting up my old Netgear router and using that instead. Straight away after connecting it my CoD4 ping dropped to 50-60 and BF2 dropped to around 30-40.
It would seem that Orange have downloaded some new firmware/software to our Live boxes which somehow limits bandwidth to certain ports and certain times. If it was not for the free calls aboard I would have canceled my broadband and mobile phone contract. I can’t believe the way that I’ve been treated by Orange throughout this issue.

I then phonrd account they gave me a free month and said they would put a specalist on it and sort it in 48hrs and would contact me with the resolution. Hav checked BT internet up the street being fed from same exchange at 9.00 last night got thoughput test of 2977. I am on 8Meg Orange broadband also. I await with intrest to see what happens and will report back
I live in Suffolk, and have been experiancing high packet loss for a few weeks now, and experiance low download speeds and connection loss during peak times, usually 1830-2200. Connection loss is the most concerning, with breaks between 1-15mins 2-3 times a night.
I have spoken to Orange and they have requested 3 speed tests with at least 3 hours in between, which I'll procure tonight.
I don't expect to get the issue resolved, so I've requested my MAC code just in case.
