Anybody have any tips for setting spam filters? I seem to get an amazing amount of spam, five at a time from french casino sites are particularly annoying. Can't be that difficult to for Orange to filter them out can it????

I also get an amazing ammount of spam.
I always report spam e-mail and still the same old spam comes back again.
I have come to the conclusion that Orange spam filters do not work at all!!!
If you open your e-mail from outlook then most spam is filtered
Come on Orange Get to grips with your spam filters
Yes, I've had my email address for about 11 years I suppose and I'm now getting about 80 spam mails to my inbox every day. Suppose it could be worse. I'm using Mailwasher so at least its easy to delete the spam without having to download to Outlook.
have always used outlook - because it's easier for a simpleton like me - and a couple of months ago, in common, I understand, with many other users, my email connection simply refused to send anything, although it would receive. I used to get some spam but most of it would be corralled in the 'orange webmail' site and not downloaded into outlook.
Taking the advice from 'borednow' I changed the addresses from pop.orange etc to the numerical address, which immediately solved the connection problem - many, many thanks to borednow. However, this instantly did something to the spam filters and am now deluged daily with all sorts of stuff - not only French casinos!.
I have managed to partially solve this situation by going into 'webmail' and setting the filters to send anything deemed 'spam' immediately into the 'junk' mail folder. This i quickly check thro' approx once a week or so - you must do this as I found a couple of items which actually I had been expecting and not received - and then 'delete' en masse. At least this now means that my outlook email box receives much much less unwanted junk and spam.

I find the easiest way to filter out the French Casino spam is to block words. Go to your webmail account and select my settings/blocked list. As I get no French emails, I filter on common French words such as votre, vous, que, tout which are found in a lot of spam. "gagner" is another good one
If you've found your way onto one of the major spam lists, then go to "my settings"/set up filters, and set up filters to search for things like "helloitmenice" and "petgord43truew" also "catchthismail". Look at the spam and tailor your filters accordingly.
I get about 300 spam mails per day (I have had a "Freeserve" address for about 13 years!) but I mark and report all spam, and in combination with my own filters, only about 5 a day make it through.
Orange filters only give the opportunity to delete mails, but all I do is then block mark the deleted folder and "mark as spam" - easy!
I should point out that I always log on to webmail and deal with spam before downloading via Thunderbird - I NEVER download spam to my computers inbox.
