Just wondering if anyone can help me help a mate? I've just been round her hous for 4 hours trying to sort her Orange livebox out. She and her hubby have been trynna do it for a month! Orange have sent them new liveboxes, done line tests, and said all is fine, promised call backs which never arrive, the usual really... (Im with Orange myself, and used to their naff support!)
Anyway, I've basically started from scratch for her today. Stripped all Orange info off of her pc, reconnected the livebox, tried to make a connection using the connection wizard in XP. Got it to connect to the livebox, but couldnt get an IP connection.
So I changed over to the router that they sent her to replace the "faulty" livebox and the wireless device wouldnt even connect to that.
Sooooo, After much monkeying about with wires, We made a wired connection, we could get an IP but couldnt get more than DNS error screens.
Soooo I then tried hooking my laptop - which works just fine with pretty much any network, including inadvertantly connecting to her neighbours (unsecured) network!! But had the exact same problems.
Her firewalls and AV software was compltely turned off after the first failed attempt. Her phones were unpluggged. There was nothing that should have disturbed that line whatsoever.
I called Orange up and they said they'd do another line test, even though apparently a previous one had been okay, and that they had no record of previous calls, even though clearly there have been calls as the info provided by the tech support team is written all over the paperwork they have.
I asked Orange what exactly they would do if this wasnt resolved by the end of the week, and the chap said that the £ they are already taking would be refunded... then he promised a call back tomorrow, but I suspect this will go the same way.
