The line I should be getting, and was getting, into my house was 5mbps, it is now 512kpbs. A restriction was put on the line about 6 months ago with regards to over usage, it was lifted about 2 months ago but as of the last 2 weeks my broadband speed is a constant 512kpbs 24/7. It just randomly dropped again for no reason what-so-ever, literally. Now this can't be a problem my end because I have done nothing to the livebox or anything. The download speed is a very exact 58 - 9 kb/s.
I have rung up those useless call centres countless times, they are extremely difficult to understand because English is not their native language. The line is often very quiet aswell and often cuts out no doubt because India is a good few thousand miles away.
I wanted to dump Orange in a heart beat but due to heavy reliance on the fixed E-Mail, I can't.
When I look on my router page it says that my downstream and upstream speeds are 5760 and 448 (kbps) respectively, these were the speed I was getting. The Speedtester website gives the same information but reports that the IP profile for my line is 500kbps and the actual IP throughput is at 527kbps.
What is going on? Why is my internet speed being restricted? The call centres give no explanation other than some garbage about an 'outage' and 'data missing' or engineers doing something with the line.... well they can't of been doing it for nearly 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm getting 490ish kbps, when I usually get between 5 and 6 meg download.
I'm getting an £125 refund though for not obeying the contract.
I'll give you one piece of advice.
Tell them tht if the issue is not sorted within 48 hours you will be reporting the issue to Ofcom, getting a representative of the law and suing the company for a breach of contract and reporting the issue to the local/national media.
My internet's apparently going to be back up on Saturday, and we have the £126 refund
