Just upgraded from 2 to 8MB, and the info (bottom right hand corner of screen) states I'm (apparently) connected at 7.6 MB (which is the maximum for my line).

Does that mean that the modem really does support that amount, or is it just some automatic info sent via Orange ?

Max they usually give on 8 meg connection is about 4-5 Mbps.
Routers are much better for speed.
