Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could offer me some help on doing this.
I have a Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT firmware that I would like to use with my Orange ADSL connection, mainly for the QoS function it offers to stop my flatmate ruining my connection with his constant downloading.
I have tried connecting the Livebox using the yellow ethernet port to the WRT54Gs WAN port and disabling the DHCP server on the livebox so that the WRT54G is handling those duties. Unfortunately this didn't work and the WRT54G was unable to receive a WAN IP from the livebox indicating to me that the Livebox doesn't want to act like just an ADSL modem.
Is there any way to completely disable all routing functions of the Livebox so that it plays nicely with my router? alternatively is there any third party firmware for the Livebox with QoS functionality? I see it's running some flavour of Linux so would think there would be something available but not sure.
I need the Livebox because the WRT54G is just a router, hasn't got an ADSL modem built in.
I just want to make the Livebox function as a modem only and not as a router/AP... I thought disabling DHCP and the wlan would achieve this but I think it's still performing some NAT trickery which causes it not to play nicely with the WRT54G.
Problem with the livebox is that it only functions with Orange (unless you know how to tweak it). You can ethernet another router from it but I'm not sure about a modem. Have you tried the red port ?
You could try the search link in the menu on the left of this page.
