I live in a shared house and my housemate unfortunately did not pay the BT phone bill on time. As a result BT disconnected the line and we have only just got it working. I have a belkin wireless router and it will flash on the telephone symbol if there is no connection to the internet. Now the phone is working again there should be a static light to indicate a connection even if there is a problem with the ISP at the back end. I have rebooted the router, reset all the information and it still will not connect to the internet and the light is still flashing. BT has checked the line and confirmed there is no issue. They confirmed it would be a problem associated with the ISP. After contacted the help desk they did not give much support on a solution so am hoping that someone can give some pointers on potential solutions. Appreciate any help. Thanks Jason
When BT disconnect the phone line ( it's called a PSTN cease ) this removes the ISP's broadband marker. BT only reconnect the telephony and not the broadband. You need to speak to the moving house/provisioning team, so they can place a new provide request with BT to reenable the broadband. This can take up to 10 working days to complete as it involves booking a BT engineer to set it all up again.
