A couple of months back I switched from Orange to Sky Broadband (using my MAC code).
Orange continued to charge me, as they said they'd not had notification from Sky (yeah, whetaver lol!)
Anyway, I got this sorted out and they closed my account down. Today I tried logging in to my account via the Orange website, and it lets me log in and view statments (which appear to be my old statments). However it says I am logged in as Pay As You Go - what does this mean? I thought I would no longer be a customer of theirs???
You can cancel your direct debit to stop them robbing you further.
If you pay by credit card then the way to stop it is ring your bank, say your card is lost and they will send you a new one and cancel the old one.
This means Orange cannot take money from it until you reinstate the payments on the new card.

Sorry, I didn't see your post when I posted exactly the same problem yesterday. I too have migrated away from Orange, but can still log in to my account to view old statements - and I get the same PAYG message as you. I am just praying I will not be charged on my BT bill for Orange PAYG when my next bill arrives!
When I clicked into the bit that says "Restore" to read further what it meant, I quickly clicked out again, and made certain I did NOT tick the "terms and conditions" box (which they ask you to do before being able to retrieve your account), nor did I click "continue". I therefore feel I have done everything in my power to be rid of Orange.
I must admit, it is confusing though, because on the phone to them I made it clear that I wanted the account closed and nothing further to do with them. They assured me this was the case, with no further monies owing. Yet, they still allow me to sign in to my account which allegedly, according to them, does not exist because they've closed it! Bizarre.
