I'm due to move into my new appartment on Feb 14th.
I've been living at home with my parents happily using NTL/Virgin Media Cable BB.
Unfortunatly, I can't have VM at my new flat, I can only use the BT line already supplied.
I heard that Orange had this BB offer for people on contract so called them about it. They said I'm eligable for it, which is great, so I looked it up. All I found was tonnes of people moaning about how bad and unreliable the connect is on Orange.
I set my sights on BE internet, but my exchange is the monly one in Leicester that BE are not on.
Orange called me today to talk about broadband, and I said that I was interested untill I read all these reviews on how they are the worst ISP in the UK. The girl on the phone told me that the old Broadband system got shutdown and has been conpletely revamped. She said that if I look at the date on reviews, they are all old and everything is fine now.
So, I use the internet for my Uni work and a lot of Gaming. I also use P2P (Torrents) quite often. At £10 a month for an unlimited bandwidth 8mb service, it's hard to not at least look into it.
So is Orange still a huge problem? Have there been improvements? Is it worth bothering with?

I left Orange when it was unable to identify and fix a connection problem over 3 weeks and moved to BT who identified it and fixed it in 24 hours and increased my connection speed in the process. Orange are OK when everything works, when it goes wrong their Technical Support are pretty inept.

I've been with Orange mobile for over 10 years - no problems.
I've been with Orange Broadband just over a year and have been without a broadband connection for about 3 months of that year. Do not touch their broadband!! They do not care if you are not getting what you pay for. Their technical support is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. Go to a reputable ISP - I certainly will when I can get out of my contract. Oh yes, they will let me out of my BB one as I have been without a connection for more than 30 days but I cannot get out of my mobile contract - even though I only changed my contract to take advantage of the BB offer.
Although I am happy with their mobile service, I am not prepared to give Orange any more of my business (and therefore, money) due soley to their total crap BB service!
Well, looking at Samknows.com, I can't even get Orange BB, so I guess I'm lucky(
That's another thing Orange don't do......tell Samknows what exchanges have been LLU'd, so you can't rely on any information re. Orange on Samknows (N.B. it's not the site's fault)
technical support is rubbish.
i had a problem getting my new pc to connect to the livebox (when i first joined). i phoned their helpline and after following the guy on the phones directions (about 15-20mins) he informed me my lan card was knackered and i should connect with the wireless adapter. i felt a bit cheesed off and started fiddling when all of a sudden a graphic on the bottom left came up showing connected then disappeared. my eyes lit up and i repeated what i had been doing and found the fault was not with the lan card but with the bloody cable they supplied to connect the pc to the livebox.
a trip to maplin and i was up and running.
i knew and still know very little about pcs but will never call their help line as they know even less.
my livebox keeps resetting itself several times a day but i am not callinng as it is bound to be the pc causing the problem
