For a few months now the service has been deteriorating. What happens is that I can connect to the internet fine, surf for a while, no problem. Then suddenly the line will go dead. The connection is still there, but it's like there's no information getting through. Pages won't load, email won't connect etc. I log off, log back on, it says it's connected at 2.2mbps, and still nothing.
It's happened to me before, but only very occasionally. Lately it's happening very often and I've had enough. I just called customer services (an English guy!!!) and requested my MAC code. Apparently it'll take 3 to 5 working days to send it to me.
This is happening to me too. One minute I'm surfing away and then the next minute "address unknown" is popping up. Last evening even the Orange home page was apparently "unknown" That just about says it all. It happened again this monring for about an hour and has happened again this evening. What on earth is going on?
Whatever the reason is, I've had enough. I sometimes play games online with my PC and when the net connection drops the game freezes and crashes my system. It's happening real bad tonight, I'm writing this wondering if the connection will drop again before I get to post it. If I can't get online I can't get my shopping and I'm not willing to risk that situation.
Funny thing is that when I asked for my MAC code the guy couldn't even be bothered to try and keep me as a customer. He just asked why I wanted to leave and that was it.

I have been having problems since last Friday evening. one minute i'm on, then it drops out and I can't get back on. it seems to let me on for about 5 minutes, then nothing.
my router has the broadband light on- its a wireless netgear model.
the wizard says the router is connect but with a downstream of 285, upstream of 2286!!!
I too have been subject to broken internet connections repeatedly every day begining last Friday. About Three months ago after two months of growing frustration with increasing email problems I saw a forum solution, and tried using the email server codes 193.252.22.136 and 140 to overcome Orange's failure to provide an adequate service. Now it seems we have to enter a public domain DNS address to have a reliable internet connection. I checked the Orange site a few minutes ago and according to them everthing is fine!!!!
Strange how Freeserve then Wanadoo manged to maintain a good service with very occasional server failures, very quickly restored, or pre-planned and announced service breaks to install new servers. Good service is apparently something Orange is unable to achieve. What makes it worse is that Orange consistently lies to its customers by denying that there are any problems. We then spend many frustrating hours looking for problems in our computers that do not exist. Unfortunately I am tied by the contract to another eight months of this, but then Orange will hav one less prisoner.
