I purchased an Orange mobile and applied for free broadband. Then I found this forum and wondered what on earth I had done. I have been with Nildram for 5 years without a problem, minor billing issue but otherwise ok. Reading here I was getting concerned.
2 days in my account is closed. Call, incorrect MAC code, too many digits. We try again with the same number 1 digit missed out.
2 days later, account closed. Incorrect MAC code, the start digits are wrong. We try again with the same number but BBIB in front instead.
2 days later, account closed. Getting a bit fed up now. Get to speak to someone in tech support - oh yes 9 digit long MAC code, I need to take you through the system putting an incorrect code in and then a note on the account of the correct code. I was not confident but we had a go.
Went live today, livebox arrived today, switch over totally smooth.
Livebox is a doddle to set up, nice software, easy to configure. Orange have made it as simple for non-techies as possible - I am a certified MSCE so found my way round without a problem.
So far, really good. Every person I spoke to was helpful and polite even though sometimes a bit uninformed of procedure for non-standard MAC codes. All were UK based staff and they really couldnt have been better at customer service.
So well done Orange, I am sure the teething problems will get sorted and you will build an excellent service like your mobile network.
