I am sure I am not the first, or the last, to post on the on-going issues with broadband through Orange! Boy I wish i'd never renewed my broadband contract, and then stupidly moved to the home max package, so also get my home line through them as well!
Since Orange emailled me on 12/4 to tell me my line was ready to receive up to 8meg broadband the issues have begun.
My connection has been slow, like a dial up connection, since this time, and then the connection started to drop off. Initially it only started every so often, until last Thursday, when it went down completely! Patience is not a virtue of mine, but I managed to spend hours trying to sort of the issue myself to no avail. I always prefer to try before phoning a support line! I've given up attempting to download anything, I don't have the 20 years it would take to wait for something to finish!!!!
Yesterday I phoned some woman in india, who clearly was reading from a script, to be led through all the checks i'd already done all through out the day. After 20 minutes she told me that it was a large scale problem, and basically I wasn't on my own and to just keep trying the connection. At this point I did explain that I felt I was paying for a service I wasn't getting! Anyway, this morning I have tried again, and it initially appeared back on line via ethernet cable to livebox. I then managed to set up my wireless network again myself, as there is let's be honest no point in phoning Orange support in india!
I managed to use the internet for a couple of hours, and hey presto, it went down again. But, still saying it was connected to my wireless network yet saying "page cannot be displayed." Plugged in the ethernet cable again to find the same problems, yet I could get to the inventell configuration page.
I am at the end of my tether, orange say it is a national problem, yet don't mention it on their website.
The other thing I have noticed is, that my home phone line, unfortunately also through Orange, now has what i can only describe as a changed dial tone, rather than the usual tone, it is well different! I am petrified to use it in case I end up being routed somewhere under a phone scam and charged hundreds of pounds. Has anyone else noticed this change in dial tone? Is it something I should be worrying about?
At present my internet connection is there again. I have emailled Orange support to be given links to things like, is your filter properly plugged in, basically idiot guide that i have tried a zillion times.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues, i am sure they are! has anyone found resolution to them yet? Quite frankly I am miffed I am paying 24.99 for a service that is slow and sporadic, and a home phone line that I am unsure if I should use!
If anyone has any advice, gratefully received. I've reset the livebox so many times in the last few days, tweaked the config, etc. I think the home phone is a joke, I asked woman in india about it, yep she told me i had to dial another number for that problem!!!!!
