I am sure this is a well trodden path, but I need to vent my anger and frustration and I hope I will get a sympathetic ear here.
I am a newcomer to the freeserve/wannadoo/orange ISP. I was looking for a good deal and what was on offer seemed to fit the bill. Why oh why didn't I check the forums first! Anyway, in November last year I ordered my 8 meg home max package and the impressive livebox arrived. I had just moved into a new house so I ordered the BT line that Orange would take over. The BT line worked as expected, but when Orange informed me that they would take it over the whole system stopped. Then we started the ping pong of responsibility. Every time I called Orange customer support they gave me another task to perform. to cut an expensive story short, after paying both BT and Orange for several months and not getting anywhere I threw the towel in when on my last call their customer support eventually admitted defeat and told me "perhaps you should get another ISP". Upset at believing their stories of "it will work in one week" for so long, I demanded that they pay me back the total cost of their non existent service (plus the £70 to disconnecting my BT line) and the cost of the support calls on their 0844. I was told to supply all supporting evidence for the £170 it had cost, so I gathered all the phone bills from my sisters phone, the BT bills and sent them off. After two months I got 35 as a credit on my account! I called and wrote on several occasions and concluded that the strategy was to frustrate you to the point that you give up in disgust! This is the antithesis of customer support. I just hope that anyone considering joining Orange will read my expereince and think twice about joing Orange.
I feel for you, there support is lousy.
but lets face were a support country isn't that all we do now.
and even with a country of 60 million support staff
were still useless at it.
