Hi I'm currently out of the country and need some help for my wife.
We have a livebox which is installed ok on our laptop (wired connection). All the correct lights are on on the livebox (@ is constant, etc). The problem is when she opens internet explorer there is no connection to a webpage. It tries to dial up using the old speedtouch modem. I'm guessing that she needs to somehow make the livebox (via ethernet) the default connection. How does she do this? I've had the internet working through the livebox working ok before I went away so am slightly confused as to why it's playing up now.

Hi Lee,
Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools @ the top.. Then click Options..
click the Connections tab and then make sure it's set to "Never Dial A Connection" Them make sure the rectangular box above it is empty..
Check by trying to access any site.
If this fails go down to LAN Settings and ensure everything is unticked.. If they are all unticked then go to the Security tab and click " Reset all zones to default level "
