I have been with freeserve, wanadoo and Orange since 2001 i have had nothing but problems since Orange took over they have never been able to resolve my problems i requested a MAC code in september but the man i spoke to persueded me to stay with a free livebox etc i said no because i didnt want to start a full 18 months contract as the problems still may not be sorted he said to me if i put you on a 6 month contract which we dont usually do with 3 months free then 3 months paying and if your still not happy then request a MAC code i was on a speedtouch modem at the time so i said yes if it was only a 6 month contract ever since september when i received the livebox i have had more problems as the livebox is forever freezing i have phoned many times and emailed and they cannot not sort it they said it must be spyware on my pc or a faulty network card i have had my pc checked and there are no faults Orange still say there is so i requested a MAC code once again and told me i would have to pay the contract as it runs to sept i explained about the 6 months contract and they say i wasnt on a contract for 6 months and there is nothing i can do i have now joined o2 (now Sky) broadband they say my activation date is the 6th may i canciled direct debit so Orange cant receive any more payments which would be due the same day as the activation date so i have a few questions if anyone can help please
will Orange stop the activation date if they cant get the payment ?
how do i stand with the contract its there word against mine i signed nothing?
have i done the right thing whay should i do now?
any help or advise will be appreciated thanks
As you are yet another victime of Orange's lies to try and keep customers I suggest contacting OFFCOM and ISPA.
They do get involved with things like this and I have found it helps, amongst other people.
If Orange start being stupid and don't remove the tag off your line when o2 (now Sky) try and activate it then they are breaking the rules as you are moving to a new ISP.
As for the contract if it was me I would quote the date that you had the conversation with the person on the phone regarding the 6 moth contract.
Calls are supposed to be recorded so this too can be quoted as evidence.
This company just seem to want money from people and don;t care how they get it but this site, organisations like ISPA and OFFCOM are there to help people who have been on the deceitful end of Orange.
Thanks will do that i told Orange i had not signed anything they said no it was a verbal agreement and we record your calls i said well if that is the case go back to the contract date and listen carefully and you will see i am no longer in a contract so we will see if i have to report them i will do as they wont be receiving no more payments from me i just hope the swap over goes ok i cant wait to get rid of Orange its been a nightmare thanks again andy
