My broadband has been down since the 4th of april, after a numberous amount of phone calls to Orange. They told me that they were doing the dreaded LLU change at my local exchange (Caldy). Calls, went on till the 26th april were they told me everything should be back up and running. So I tried connecting to the broadband and still nothing. After more phone calls, and them doing line tests. they decided to tell me my Belkin modem wasn’nt working. So they sent me out a ugly looking grey box that Orange prefer to call a “livebox”. Which I set-up and low and behold, this didn’t work either. I get a status message in my livebox settings that the internet status is “PPP server down”. So I ring up Orange again and all they can suggest is more line test’s.
So has anyone else had these problem? Or know how to solve it?
After upgrading of line speed of 8mgb last November we had no service for around 8 weeks. Found out it was because the line was only capable of supporting 5.5mgb (found this on BT site) Seemed to be cured when speed turned down , but it took Orange weeks, numerous phonecalls and a visit from an engineer (who said that the speed could be turned down easily and instantly). Since March 2008 we have been having similar lack of connectivity but this time intermitantly and are still trying to get Orange to sort this now - they keep saying that they have sorted it but then we lose connection again and sometimes it comes on for 2 minutes then its off again for a few minutes. It has been so frustrating.
Go to BT.com and do a check of what speed your line will support, it's likly to be less than 8meg if it is get Orange to have the speed turned down, but you need to persevere, they don;t like doing it. Also get some compensation (at least a couple of months free access),
