I normally pay my ADSL by credit card, lost my wallett and had to apply for new cards. This apart from being a right pain in the A@@@e has taken a couple of weeks to sort. I tried to contact Orange to pay with the new card , which they refused to accept as it does not match up on their system. I am about be cut off as the payment due date is up, they will not respond to emails so I can transfer to a new ISP as I cannot remember my original Freeserve password.
I cannot pay them , I cannot get a MAC code, they will not speak to me as I cannot give them one piece if info,, they do not respond to emails. Is there any thing I can do.? My local IT supplier told me that I may not be able to get a new ADSL on my line as Orange may have a MAC code valid for 30 days or so.
This potentially means I could be without broadband until May!!!!
You should be able to pass their data protection checks without knowing your password. If that wasn't the case, no-one who forgot their password would ever get back online.
The DPA requires you to answer Three questions; orange tend to ask for your name, date of birth and two characters from your your password, though this can be anything, full address, username etc. Once you have passed the DP checks they really don't have any grounds to not accept your new payment details. Sheesh, it's almost like they don't even want our money
