I always used this forum to try and stay ahead of Orange madness but finally they got me. I was freeserve, wanadoo now Orange and survived LLU and everything until now....
Yesterday my connection (previously 7.4 allegedly - actually nearer 3-4 mbps) was literally switched off then on again on resumption it a steady 2.2mbps.
I read about the fair use policy and thought oh I have transgressed and am being punished or the exchange at fault.
Nope...not even that it seems
Orange have just said I was mistakenly upgraded to 8mb ps for free ( they had to as part of BT upgrade) I have the email saying I would enjoy my free upgrade from 1mbps option 1 package...and I did until now. So they clawing it back looks like to gain bandwidth?
As a freeserve contract person they tried many times to 'persuade' me into new crap package but as I wanted option to leave without paying them for breaking contract I refused every time and again today despite obvious coercive intent behind this move...
I paid 17.99 for years since the freeserve days and been a loyal (to a point and happy customer apart from occasional downtime no problems)
Now suddenly the system has in their words 'corrected itself' and lo and behold it now 2mbps and when rang them they said should be 1mbps and I should be happy with 2mbps...marvellous logic...
HAPPY???????????for 18 quid when same package ( if you accept new home starter contract) is £12 from them BUT if you accept and you break contract you pay rest of year £120!
sharp practice comes to mind....
They also said my download limit now 2GB a month which i must have transgressed since day one so where the logic here as eveen home starter is 6GB
So well done Orange you punishing your longest serving customers in bid to clean up with awful mobile/web deals...no thanks.....I have Virgin mobile and frankly the Virgin/BT and anybody else packages suddenly seem glorious and HONEST about where you are at least.....not this confusion and manipulation...
anybody else being 'lent upon' like this?
Is it they cannot compete with BT so hitting customers?
I frankly bemused by whole farcical approach...
It took a phone call to find out what package they actually think i am on...
Of course they said for only £2 more I get everything back as before..
OH YES that scripted and rolled out instant anybody enquires I bet
Don't panic lastfarmer, I'm in the same position as you. Orange are converting their LLU network to ADSL2+ and your router stats will show something like 2268 downstream and 285 upstream. Check out this thread >>>
