Ok onto my soap opera stlye story line, which is "Orange Broadband".
1> Had Orange broadband for 6 months no problems, relatively good speed around 4 megs. Nothing to complain about....
2> When the LLU migration was performed 3 weeks ago for me, i have lost all service. unable to connect.
3> 1-2 phone calls a day, for 2 weeks no resolution. I wont even go into the process problems Orange have, im sure theyve alreay been discussed here.
4> After 2.5 weeks i emailed the ceo of Orange about this problem. I have since been in contact with a chief officior from Orange on a daily basis, looking at solving my problem.
5> Last friday i managed to get a conneciton! But this is limited to 0.1kbs for a few mins then my net monitor simply shows 0.0kbs download. I can access google.co.uk, but bbc.co.uk will never load.
6> Tracert's & pings report 25-50% packet loss.
Today i have been told the LLU process failed, somthing related to the connectors in the exchange.
The resolution provided this morning is to perform a reverse migration of the service - estimated time 5 days.
Can anyone provide me with information on the "reverse migration" process? So i can basically push back and say this can be done in 1-2 days with extra resource being allocated.
It's down to BT who set the SLA's for the switch. I'd think yourself lucky your going back to the ADSLMax service. If they'd done that to me I may still have been a customer of theirs

Thanks for the info.
Can you explain what SLA's is please?
Should the "reverse migration" take 5 days?
Surely this is simply moving the connections back?
Is this work carried out by Orange or is the work done by BT, therefore this being the reason it will take 5 days?
The work is done by BT and SLA=Service Level Agreement i.e. it's an agreement between the 2 parties how long a job should take. Yes it does look like a 2 minute job, but the job has been booked in and scheduled etc with all the other broadband jobs.

I will contact the Chief officer im in communication with, and see if this can be pushed forward.
With the timeframe specified, it will be 4 weeks+ without service!.
Which is totally unacceptable.
Thanks for the info, i will run through this later on when i get home from worky.
But, i havent changed anything since it was running fine for the last 6 months. So these config changes maybe required when a migration is performed?
Happens quite often that ok one day and not the next.
Keith
I have been assured (haha, like its worth anything) work will be completed on thursday pm.
I think i will wait till the work is finished before i start modifying values.
Please correct me if im wrong, but i would be surprised if changing config values on an end users pc, would solve packet loss problems, which appears to be happening along my route. Ie other servers shown in for example a tracert.
On thursday, if things are no better, ill start reading through the info you provided, actioning appropriately.
I can guarantee if your PC's MTU rate is set higher than the router's MTU you will get packet loss on the PC. Also even if the PC MTU is less than the router MTU, but the router MTU is too high, pages will load slower. I got an incredible improvement when I was on ADSLMax and reduced from the default 1492 to something like 1430. YMMV

Interesting..... Cheers for the info.
They are performing reverse migration today / tmw, from whatever it went to back to adslmax, i think.
I didnt have any problems before, so i presume i should wait, till im back to the initial service, then see whats happening.
Once the reverse migration is complete, should the service be fine immediately or will the servers need a few days to sort themselves out?
I need a fast, conneciton with no problems, for sunday, when glastonbury tickets are released!!!!
Did they put you box (you will know from your upsteam synch rate)
To answer your last question, your line may need a few days to settle down before it is set at what is perceived its optimum speed
Reverse migration was completed yesturday afternoon.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8096 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1872 kbps
So i am capped at 2meg until they start to up the speed when found stable..
Prior to migration i had around 4.5 meg to play with, so presumably within 10 days this will return.
