So, for the past week i've been experiencing constant dropouts from the internet connection. AND IT'S FREAKIN' ANNOYING Evil or Very Mad

I called up Orange tech support (indian call centre) asking them if they had any problems with their servers or if there was a problem in our area. none, apparently, despite all hardware/software & computer setup displaying NOTHING wrong.

They tell me to phone BT because that's what our router is...he talks me through hundreds of basic troubleshooting steps i've tried a million times already. And in the process of his "help" this guy cuts out our internet connection completely!
Half a day we had no internet, it eventually came back on...but our network between the laptop and desktop (for file sharing) was gone!
So i had to set the thing up all over again Evil or Very Mad

including importing about 3 and a half thousand songs back into itunes, and sifting through the stuff i don't like etc ¬¬
Ridiculous.

And after all that "help" we are STILL getting constant internet drop outs!
GRRRR!!!

We're considering switching to tiscali....it's cheaper.

we tried to get a MAC code from Orange, and after a conversation with them...they're giving us an immediate 3 months free, and a reduced rate of £12.99 - the same as tiscali, they're gonna call us within 24 hours and try to fix our problem. but i doubt they will.

Everytime i mention we use a BT router, they immediately dismiss the situation...Idiots.

I wonder how desperate they will get to keep just one customer lol.
I bet they're throttling - that's the only thing i can think off that's causing us problems.
After all - they haven't told me otherwise...

I'm getting this as well. Up to now, my connection has been without any real problems, apart from an occasional 0691 or 0721 error. But lately, the connection will just suddenly hang, and when I try to reconnect I get an error message. And even though broadband is supposed to be 'always on,' if I leave it connected but don't do any surfing for 30 minutes the connection will hang again.

I'm seriously thinking of switching over now, even though I get the free deal.

I would...despite the apparent bad reputation, we've switched to tiscali now. and haven't had that problem as yet.

Leading me to believe that it was Orange's fault that our connection was dropping out.
