I pay £20 per month for my Orange broadband and other services. I been with Orange for around 7 months now. I am supposed to get upto 8MB downstream for my bradband. But when i check the livebox "System Information" it seems that my attainable (max allowed) downstream is 2464 KBps! which is around 2MB. So i checked my account at Orange.co.uk and the online account info says that I am getting the 8MB. I am confused??? Maybee theres a problem with the live box? I included a screnny below.
You're pays for "up to 8meg", the downstream rate you're getting is effectively the best the line can do, as shown by the attainable being only a fraction higher than it. If your line could go faster then it would, you may want to get your phone wiring checked to make sure there's no problems there.
Thanks everyone, after reading your posts, my attanaible download rate has increadsed to 9600Kbps. and that my limit is at is max (8096Kbps)(8Mb). And it was to do with the wireing. The extention cable running from my room to the living room where the phone was plugged into the ADSL filter and the phone was plugged into the extention with not ADSL filter. My dads renovating the living room and he said he had to take everything out etc..
Thanks everyone! and that BT phone box (5,6 wire thing was very helpful)
Wow an amazing improvement, although I'm surprised you could get a phone socket into an ADSL filter if you look at these diagrams

I can understand the wrong wire being used for the livebox as they do provide a multitude of wires
