Hope you can all help me here, not much hair left! didn't even know i'd been upgraded till i read about it in here. no email. i'd been losing my connection with various errors, primarily Limited or Poor connection and Acquiring DNS address with no success, as so many here have had. i'd been cleaning up my hd, resetting livebox, yada yada, till i spotted this. i have a main pc with XP which had no probs and had wiped hd just six wks ago, so few probs there. i have a new dell laptop which had connected effortlessly to the livebox before. wireless with no dongle. main pc with ethernet lead. got so fed up i borrowed a netgear and connected both with no probs, so stuck with that for a few days. of course meanwhile i had lost my free phone line. tried livebox again, no joy. had to give back netgear, got a belkin and connected both no probs. emailed Orange for a new livebox and they insisted i phoned the helpline before they wld issue one.
this phone call took forever, v expensive as you know, and they insisted i connect livebox to main BT socket which involves moving furniture and hassle. i did this ( shld just have pretended, eh?) and had to phone back as this took ages. no difference of course. the helpline can't transfer you to the guy you'd been speaking to, so had to explain from the beginning again. very frustrating. finally got my main pc connected via ethernet and livebox, and free phone reactivated. while questioning guy he hung up. shortly thereafter back to limited connection, so reset livebox again. flushed dns, flushed that dns more times than the toilet over the last few weeks! finally got rid of it. now i find i can't connect my laptop for love nor money, having tried all sorts of suggestions from here and elsewhere. it just says Wireless association failed owing to an unknow reason. it had no prob before and works fine with netgear and belkin. laptop is Vista.
i've disable all firewalls everwhere and all security in livebox. i can connect laptop with ethernet but that's not at all convenient. i'm at the stage of being willing to forego my free phone just to get a decent connection. or look at trying to set up the belkin thru the livebox etc. i've done all the ipconfigs, netsh and flushes. any ideas anyone?
