Before I had a livebox I used a Linksys modem/router/firewall which worked fine and had a lot of options not available on the Livebox (like being able to shut down the internet access at specific times to encourage the kids to go to bed!).
My livebox works OK and we use the live box phone a lot but the wireless range is awful. (yes I have tried changeing channels).
Recently I bought a netgear wireless media streamer (MP101) so I can listen to music stored on the PC downstairs via the hi-fi. Problem is that the wireless signal is so that I have to be very careful about positioning the MP101 so that it can connect. The Linksys wireless modem has better range and a socket for a PROPER aerial if I need to extend the range further. The question is this:
Can I connect the Linksys to the Livebox and connect 2 wired PCs to the Linksys, disable the Livebox wireless connection and use the Linksys as the wireless connection for a PC and the MP101.
Apart from diabling the Livebox wireless section, what other setting will I need to change on the Livebox and Linksys.
Thanks
Shaun

As far as i know... Just plug in the Ethernet cable to the main socket on the linksys.. Get the two wired connections going.. Then you should be able to use the Linksys as a wireless source and to use the MP101. As the Livebox is a modem & a wireless router.. =]
The normal way is to turn off DHCP on the linksys and connect it to the livebox, possibly setting the linksys to the IP 192.168.1.2 so you can access it's settings easily.
After that just untick enable wireless on the livebox and you "should" be done.
