Orange say that the max I can get is a 4mb service, BT say its 1mb. I am approximately 5 miles from the exchange.
I run speedtest and get the following....
I have moved the livebox to the master phone socket - No Change
I have unplugged both Sky Boxes from the phoneline - No Change
I have used 3 different ADSL Filters - No Change
I have spoken to 'Indian Clive' and he says that I have to wait a couple of days to let the line settle.
I have had the service for about 6 weeks now.
I have tried to run speedtester.BT.com tests, but throughout the day it returns a 'Busy' error. Even at 10:30pm on a saturday evening!
What does the above info mean, what is my next step to getting my speeds to an acceptable level, and what else can I do to help this??!!?
Ok - I managed to get a test done. - Heres the results.
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 6624 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 123 kbps
What is the IP Profile? It seems awfully low... ?!?
Firstly BT are wrong and your line should easily handle around 5 - 5.5 meg, probably their checker result is wrong where Orange were reading the MSR from the line provide.
Looks like there was some minor problem that has since gone away, as shown by your current sync speeds. The problem caused the profile to be lowered to compensate in order to stabilise things. The profile should go back up automatically, providing it's stable, within 3 days.

I am having almost exactly the same problem. Orange say I should connect at 3mbs, my livebox says I am connected at about 2.4, but for over a week now I have been connected at
After many calls to our foreign friends, they arranged for a BT engineer to call round today. Suprise , suprise! there is nothing wrong with my line, but he could not fix the problem, he said Its down to my "service Provider".
So I called bangladesh again only to be told, that their engineers are "working" on the problem and they will get back to me when they have fixed it.
