I joined Orange in 2002, way back when it was Freeserve. It was a good service, the Helpline spoke English, everything was o.k. Then it became Wanadoo. A few problems occurred, the Helpline was less helpful but not dire. So I stayed. Then it became Orange. I moved house, it was a screw-up. I stayed, 'faute de mieux'. 2006, I had some problems with SPAM email, nothing too serious but quite annoying. I called the 'Help'line - who by now had become an unintelligible waste of time (and my money). Luckily, whichever devils had obtained my email addresses must have given up as the problem went away. Then in 2007 things became quite serious on the SPAM email front. I started to receive some absolutely disgusting nude pictures, lewd content and general nastiness. I was feeling ill every time I opened my Outlook I called the 'Sod off, we really can't help you' line. Their only solution was to close my account, leave me without service for at least 10 working days and then set up a new account, but at their prevailing costs. I had to give up. So the only alternative was to dump Orange, even though it was major hassle to change email addresses of so many years' standing. I contacted the Orange Executive office, as recommended here, and they called me back but were in the 'chocolate fireguard' league of helpfulness. A cautionary tale of how a good service can fall apart.
