I ended up with Orange from the early days of freeserve etc, and thought it would be a good idea to upgrade to a 2mb connection...however this only lasted a week or so before i was down graded to 1.1. I have spoken to technical support several times and been through the usual clear my browser cache etc until the last call i was told that my connection has been downgraded because it was not stable at 2mb.
I have spoken to BT who have checked my line and confirmed it to be capable of 6.5 - 8mb and i am also very close to the exchange.
I have run several speed tests and i get exactly 1mb download at all times of the day. Orange insist that i have been given a stable speed of 2mb but every time i log on it reports speedtouch connected at 1.1mb. I would be very grateful if anyone can offfer any help as from my investigations i cannot find any way of logging on at a higher speed.

Fixed speed connection of 1 meg with the ability to go higher as you have margin well over 6db. Most probably an LLU connection, you should wait 10 days from when it changed for the system to try and optimise the speed.
