My 2 MG connection has been acting up for weeks and weeks, ever since the day Wanadoo had engineering works done which should have caused problems for 30 mins.
Can receive emails, but can't send any out (protocol error), and only a few webpages get displayed, if it does at all. Hardware all working as should be, as it always has been.
No proper connection either with secondary laptop, nothing wrong with either PCs, as dial-up, LAN all work...
India have tried their best but to no avail it seems. Since there is no continuity, ie, not a dedicated agent, it is frustrating to go through the same process of explaining the problems every single time. Must have spoken to all staff at the call centre by now. I can only keep calling them back and getting line test updates or lack thereof.
Been given a free dial up connection, but this is far from ideal.
Have got a MAC code but is my only option switching ISPs / keep waiting for someone at Orange / BT / Whoever to do something?
Can anything else be done at all?
I'd be most grateful for any guidance. Way past the overly emotional stage now...

My advice is to use your MAC. There are plenty of much better ISPs out there. Look on <http://www.adslguide.org.uk> where you can compare them.
I spent ages (although nowhere near as long as some folk) trying to get Wanadoo/Orange to fix my connection. Switching to another ISP was painless and I have no complaints at all about my new ISP (Zen). Dealing with Zen's customer service after Wanadoo's was refreshing to say the least.
If your MAC goes LLU1234567 then some ISPs can't cope with it. You may need to hunt around from one that can. It's also worth ringing them up as sometimes they can do a bit of manual magic to get the migration done.

I am going mad with this lack of connection. It was reasonably ok before they did the change over, now, it is constantly disconnecting and my laptop no longer connects at all.
Things improved slightly, when I wrote to Eric Abensur. They have sent me a new adapter, which makes it easier to reconnect but I have to do that frequently. I suppose it is a case of getting down to changing everything again.

Im in exactley the same boat as you. No connection since June 8th after LLU migration, after countless calls to the helpdesk Im actually now really chilled out on the phone, Im not expecting anything to happen afterall lol!
Luckily for me my contract runs out with Orange on July 9th where I plan to ask for my MAC Code. I need to find a reliable ISP with unlimited download for a cheap price (lower than £25pm) Im looking at BT as its their line! so I figure if anything goes wrong there's only ONE party involved and not Three!!! I bet my MAC code starts with LLU....
If it does.....

Reading through all the forums it appears under these circumstances the best option is a cease and re-provide, there are fewer problems other than being without your connection for 5-10 days, but seeing as how you have had none for a month or more, a few days won't make much difference!
This way you don't need a MAC code.
It should give you a clean start.
You should find some info on here and on the ADSLguide site.

Thank you so much for this. After more promises of "it will be resolved by 11am in x days", decided to use the MAC before it expired.
Joined Zen after several enquiries, hopefully I will never have to go through this hassle again!!!
I should write a formal complaint in writing though, anyone have any ideas as to where this should be directed for maximum effect?
If you're wondering which ISP to move to and not get all the disconnections, excuses etc that Orange give then move to Idnet - www.idnet.net
I too had all the Orange problems and excuses, was fine with Freeserve and Wanadoo.
Idnet are ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC -
100% reliable, fast connection
Free customer support from friendly staff who work there not call centres in India
1 month contracts
You will not be disappointed, I use mine mainly for games and its 100% stable (with a router)
