so here is my problem:
I have Mozilla Thunderbird and 5 different email acounts on it.
I'm using Xp home on a standard Laptop and the connection is wireless.
I'm fine recieving emails but as soon as I try to send one it just says my smtp sever is blocking or not responding. I have no problems on other networks as my uni or at my parents place (in Germany) it's working fine but with my Orange broadband (Home select) it never lets me send a mail. So I assume it's not the settings in Thunderbird because when I'm on different networks it works just fine.
Is there a firewall in the Livebox which blocks THunderbird?
I called them but they just told me they are not supporting Thunderbird...
Has anyone had a similar problem and is their a solution?

it seems to work but not every email acount can recieve it...
(I'm testing sending mails from one acount to another)
It looks like Googlemail recieves my mails fine but my uni acount doesn't
.... and my German mail doesn't either!

It's a specific Orange smtp server which, for me, has worked consistently for months.
I think the usual setting of smtp.wanadoo(or orangehome).co.uk routes primarily through one or two servers which routinely seem to have throughput problems.
Well I'm not really concerned about my Orange mail. It is my Googlemail and my uni mail aswell as Hotmail and another provider which aren't working. So I would need to sort them out but it seems Orange is blocking all these outgoing servers...

What outgoing ports are you using ?....if you're using port 25 it won't work because that's the one Orange uses. Googlemail etc should state which ports they use.

so the problem was due to the fact that Orange blocks the port 25 get it!
well hopefully the rest should be fine
