I've just been upgraded automatically to up to 8Mb from 2Mb.
The download speed has gone from ~1.9 to ~3.5Mb
They also sent an email today advising to download some optimisation software to improve the modem's performance. Call me cycnical but I'm wondering if there's a catch if I install and run this software?

Anybody had experience of doing this?
Hi wilsonkime
What modem are you using?
If I were you I'd check the make, model & firmware version on the manufacturer's website if you're unsure about the optimisation software.
Regards.
Well I presume it's talking about the Speedtouch modem optimisation software, which helps it handle connections above 4 meg. There's no real catch involved with that software, it's supplied from Thomson who make the modem.
It may help but if your connection is around 3.5 / 4 meg then it won't really make any difference.
